Setting the stakes

Drake's ninth album ICEMAN dropped on May 15, 2026 — alongside two companion albums, Maid of Honour and Habibti. Eighteen tracks, 68 minutes, eleven lead producers, and exactly zero Kendrick Lamar collaborators in the credit list. The interesting story isn't production overlap. There isn't any. The interesting story is that after a year of silence, Drake finally answers the feud on two tracks — track 11, the lead single 'What Did I Miss?', and track 14, 'Make Them Remember'. The feud arc starts in 2013 with Control — the verse that made the decade inevitable. It's no longer on Apple Music or Spotify, so we tell that story in the narration and pick up the playable lineage with Drake's The Language.

The feud arc

Control didn't start the beef. It made the beef inevitable — a structural argument about what hip-hop was for. The first song we can play in the app is Drake's The Language. After that come Kendrick's King Kunta, Drake's Back to Back, and Kendrick's The Heart Part 4. Each one escalates the same question from a different angle.

Not Like Us

2024 was the year the structural critique became a number-one single. Not Like Us debuted at #1, stayed top 10 for 31 weeks, and won Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 2025 Grammys. Drake's response — Family Matters — was technically excellent. It still wasn't enough. Listen to both next.

What Did I Miss? — the first answer

Drake's first piece of the answer dropped on July 5, 2025, almost a year after Not Like Us crested. 'What Did I Miss?' is the lead single from ICEMAN. He doesn't name Kendrick. He names the friends who he believes played both sides of the beef. It is the first song where Drake stops engaging with the diss and starts engaging with the betrayal.

Make Them Remember — the second answer

Two days before release, on May 13, a song called '1AM in Albany' leaked online. Disses to Kendrick. Disses to LeBron. The leaked feature from Pressa is gone in the released version, but everything else is intact — the song is on the album as 'Make Them Remember', track 14. 'What Did I Miss?' is about the people who played both sides. 'Make Them Remember' is about the people who picked one.

What ICEMAN actually is

You just heard nine playable records in the lineage — from The Language through Family Matters, then the two ICEMAN answer tracks. Control opened the arc but lives off streaming now. ICEMAN is not a Kendrick album in disguise. The producer credits are the opposite of Kendrick's. The thesis is Drake's argument that he's not going to make a better version of Kendrick's record — he's going to make the record only he can make. Ran To Atlanta, Make Them Pay, and B's On The Table are on the full eighteen-track album below — we close on Make Them Cry, the opener critics are calling his most vulnerable since Marvin's Room.
