I Surrender All Interlude — Moses Boyd
Moses Boyd says he began Songs for Sinners with a list of hymns he loved. He spent a day recording them with gospel musicians, then another day with his family, the Kitchen Choir, singing over those first recordings in his kitchen. WNYC featured the album in its new-music roundup. On the track list, “I Surrender All Interlude” comes just before “I Surrender All.” Hear I Surrender All Interlude by Moses Boyd.
I Surrender All — Moses Boyd
Boyd remembers singing “I Surrender” in church as a child. He says it stayed with him and appears on Songs for Sinners in some form. For the album, he also recorded his family singing in his kitchen. Now comes “I Surrender All,” listed right after the interlude you just heard. Keep Boyd’s childhood hymn and his family’s kitchen recordings in mind as you listen to the two tracks together. What do you make of them? Hear I Surrender All by Moses Boyd.
